In early March, Bear and I decided now was the time to start the process of moving house. We’ve been in this hellhole for more than nine years and finally the house prices had started to rise, so we could finally afford to get out and find something new in a much better neighbourhood…
Irritated beyond comprehension by the lack of Bear’s control over his bloody annoying daughter, both were in the firing line of my damned-near volcanic temper.
It’s been a tradition since I moved here to steal a bauble from somewhere to add to our collection. Bear was a bit hesitant at first being an honest upstanding member of society…
It was a beautiful Australian Shepherd, only 13 months old but calm and well behaved, but it was massive. Poor pup was terrified and tried valiantly to escape under the patio lounger, somewhat unsuccessfully, and just lay there yelping and whimpering until it was taken away (which it was, very quickly).
Yesterday Bear spent most of the afternoon drilling into the patio to fix metal fence post holders, to put a fence with a gate across the bottom of the patio. Pup got brave and came off the patio and went down to the next step towards the garden.
These past few days with the children have been interesting. Every morning from 8.30am until 12pm they’ve attended school via Google Classroom, interacted with their tutors over Google Meet and even managed to get ahead of their classwork.
The fact that he hates making decisions told me he was stressing about it, so I took it out of his hands. I told my sister this morning.
I’m very much concerned about what my sister and her new husband will think of me. Hence the demure black dress and proper coloured hair. ‘Mutton dressed as lamb’ is not a label I need.
We chatted about the wedding, travel plans and social commitments that are causing me a great deal of stress, and my hopes to see my son when we get to the UK.
He knows I can’t deal with new people without some preparation. He knows it stresses me the fuck out and makes me anxious and jumpy and nervous. He did it anyway.
